We are committed to identifying funding in support of course revitalization, historic preservation efforts, youth golf literacy, and environmental sustainability in and around the Langston Golf Course community.

ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE

We are a group of area citizens and business owners colloquially referring to ourselves as “Friends of Langston,” who are working with other stakeholders to keep the amazing legacy of the Langston Golf Course alive through activities that focus on stewardship and community engagement.

PROGRAMS

In 2021, the Langston Golf Course Conservancy established a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to raise funds in support of youth empowerment programs, community development, course renovations, and cultural preservation in and around the neighborhood surrounding the historic Langston Golf Course. 

COURSE HISTORY

Langston Golf Course is an 18-hole golf course in Washington, D.C., established in 1939. It was named for John Mercer Langston, who was the first dean of the Howard University School of Law, the first president of Virginia Normal and Collegiate Institute (now Virginia State University), and the first African American elected to the United States Congress from Virginia.
